Although the temperature was about -5 C Monday morning it's expected to drop throughout the day, dropping to - 11 C in the afternoon before reaching a low of – 21 C overnight.
It will remain cold on Tuesday, with a daytime high of about – 17 C. With the windchill it will feel like – 30 C on Tuesday.
"That Arctic air will be here for the next three to five days," said CBC meteorologist Jay Scotland. "Bitter cold is on the way. Not as cold as last time, but colder than normal."
On Jan. 3 the temperature hit – 24 C, which felt like – 35 C with the windchill.
Air Canada issued a statement warning the weather may delay some flights. Passengers are asked to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.
