Surrey Machete Attack Sends Man To Hospital

Machete Attack Awakens Neighbourhood

Several people in a Surrey, B.C. neighbourhood rushed to call 911 on early Monday to report a group of people attacking a man with a machete.

RCMP said they received several calls at about 1 a.m. from the 14100 block of 75th Avenue. Callers said there was a large amount of blood on the scene as well, said an RCMP news release.

Police found a 25-year-old man with several slashes on his body "caused by being struck a number of times by the edged weapon." He was treated in hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police they heard the fight and saw the suspects flee in a vehicle, possibly a van, according to RCMP Sgt. M.A. Hedderson, who added: "The identity of the suspects are unknown at present."
