Mall Parking Lot Hockey: No Rink? No Problem, Just Lace 'Em Up Outside Jysk (PHOTOS)

LOOK: It's Only Some Hockey In A Mall Parking Lot

The polar vortex that descended over most parts of Canada over the New Year prompted many Canucks to revisit their relationship with winter.

Most of that soul-searching came in the form of the hashtag #snowgrilling – go ahead, take a look – and piles of other photos and videos of buried streets and ice-covered faces.

Some took it a little further, by doing that thing that most Canadians joke about but few attempt – skating down the street.

But Alberta being what it is, someone had to take things a little further. Enter this guy.

That's right. Here's just your average Grande Prairie resident showing up to a game of shinny at his local mall parking lot.

The photo, which was shared on Imgur, gathered much praise on social media, and even some empathy.

"Oh man that surface looks so uneven. It looks like when we used to play down at the creek back home when I was a kid," said groovekittie on Reddit.

"Careful! Take care of your ankles!"

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story alluded the photo was taken in Calgary. It is actually from Grande Prairie. We apologize for nay confusion this may have caused.
