WINNIPEG - Natural gas rates are on the rise again in Manitoba.

The Public Utilities Board has approved an increase of 6.4 per cent, or about $50 a year, for the average homeowner.

The rate hike is to take effect Feb. 1,and follows a 1.4 per cent increase last November.

Natural gas prices have jumped in North America due to a frigid winter in many areas that has increased demand for heating fuel.
