But few else deny Justin Trudeau's decision to boot all 32 Liberal senators from caucus is a bold one.
"If the Senate serves a purpose at all, it is to act as a check on the extraordinary power of the prime minister and his office, especially in a majority government," Trudeau said at a press conference.
Many took to Twitter on Wednesday to weigh in on the Liberal leader's surprising announcement that Grit senators will sit as independents in order to reduce partisanship in the upper chamber.
While some wondered if Trudeau was trying to get out in front of an impending auditor general report that could possibly shine an unflattering light on the expenses of some Liberal senators, it seems many others are excited by the proposal.
Liberal MP John McCallum went as far as to compare it to former prime minister Jean Chretien's decision to say no to the war in Iraq.
