The price of real estate is getting seriously ridiculous in B.C.
Just earlier this week two heritage houses near Boston Bar were listed for a dollar each and now Vernon's trying to get in on the bargain basement trend, offering a former boy's school for yes, you guessed it, a dollar even.
The current owners of the 122-year-old-property, All Saints Anglican Church, are not able to come up with the estimated $200,000 to bring it to code, and are hoping to find a willing renovator with an empty lot — and a sense of adventure.
Because, like the Mercer House in Chilliwack, this is a "buyer collects" arrangement, with the added complication of a major intersection to navigate for the new owner. Hydro wires will need to be cut and traffic lights removed at a cost of about $100,000.
But hey, what's $300,000 for a nice big, heritage house in B.C.?
