We know Valentine's Day is meant to be the most romantic day of the year, but on a more global level, we really prefer to think of it as the universal day of love. And you know who's deserving of some of that love? You guessed it — your mom.
Once upon a time, we all used to bring home our heart-covered artwork dedicated to our mothers from school, so why not bring back the tradition? One 2012 study even found people spent more on their mothers than their lovers on Valentine's Day, likely because, as one psychology professor put it, “[Everyone] has a mother but not everyone has a lover.”
So we're not saying you have to go all out splurging on a massive bouquet or an expensive gadget (it was just Christmas, after all), but a little token expressing your love will remind her that, yes, she did do a great job bringing you up.
