Icy Sidewalk May Be To Blame For Edmonton Woman's Death

Fall On Icy Sidewalk May Have Caused Death

Edmonton police investigating a woman's death on Saturday say she may have slipped on an icy sidewalk and hit her head.

Police say the woman was found on a sidewalk at 154 Street and 99 Avenue around 8 a.m., CTV Edmonton reports.

The sidewalk where she was has some ice on it so that’s what we’re looking at right now, to determine if that may have contributed to her falling down on the sidewalk,” Staff-Sgt. Barry Maron told the Edmonton Journal.

Neighbours phoned 911 when they saw the woman lying on the sidewalk and she was transported to hospital when paramedics arrived.

"When we look at the scene there's nothing suspicious, there was some ice on the sidewalk....there's nothing to indicate foul play," Maron told CBC.

The death is being treated as non-criminal.
