Police to resume water search for Jeffrey Boucher

A water search will resume Monday for Jeffrey Boucher, the high school teacher from Whitby, Ont., who vanished without a trace nearly three weeks ago.

Boucher, 52, was reported missing on Monday, Jan. 13. His family believed that he had gone out for a run, but had not returned home.

Air and ground searches were undertaken, but Durham Regional Police never found any signs of where Boucher went.

On Jan. 20, police said they were "truly stumped" about what had happened to him.

Police announced last month that a water search of the Whitby harbour would begin, but had to postpone the effort as a result of high winds and frigid temperatures. The water search is now scheduled to resume tomorrow.

Police have not said what information prompted them to initiate a search of that section of Lake Ontario.
