EDMONTON - A woman in Edmonton is facing a charge after concerned citizens alerted police about a child left alone in a cold car.

Officers were called to a south-end location early Monday evening after some people noticed a child as young as two who had been left in the vehicle.

The car hadn't been running for about half an hour and the temperature at the time was -17 C.

Paramedics removed the youngster, who was cold but appeared to be fine.

A woman believed to be the mother has been charged under Alberta's Child, Youth and Family Act with causing a child to be in need of intervention.

She was allowed to leave the scene with the toddler.
