'High-risk' offender to face new charges, police say

Members of the Toronto police sex crimes unit will announce charges today against a man they describe as a high-risk offender.

Police say Hassan Steven Jarrar, 41, of Toronto, has been arrested will face multiple charges.

Details will be released by investigators at a news conference this morning.

In June 2012, police released a public warning about Jarrar following his release from prison after he served a 15-year sentence for aggravated sexual assault and assault.

At that time, police said he was considered a high-risk offender and that the public was being notified of his release because of his high potential to re-offend.
