DESMARAIS, Alta. - An Alberta man has been charged in the death of a toddler a year ago.

RCMP say police were called to a home at a residence on the Bigstone Cree Nation on Feb. 13, 2013, and found a two-and-a-half-year-old girl dead.

Police say the child had signs of trauma on her body.

The coroner determined that the child died from multiple injuries.

Police say Noskyie's wife had an informal arrangement with the toddler's biological mother to care for the child and the child had been living with them for four months prior to her death.

Twenty-two-year-old Travis Noskyie is set to appear in court in Desmarais on Feb. 13 on a charge of manslaughter.
