Who says Valentine’s Day is only a celebration of romantic love? We think it should be a celebration of love in all of its wondrous forms, which is why we’re smitten with this family’s themed photo shoot.

Amanda, the beautiful mother of this family, admits that she hasn’t always been a fan of Valentine’s Day. “I hated the commercialism and forced feeling of it all,” she says. “Now that I have a family, though, I have found a new appreciation for the holiday. It is all about celebrating the unconditional love our family shares and showing our boys how to love.”

You’d be hard pressed to find that kind of sincere emotion in a Hallmark card! Scroll through the photos from Hough Photography to see vintage-inspired celebration of the love this family shares, especially on Valentine’s Day.

More from Amanda… “When Liz approached us about modelling for a vintage Valentine’s Day shoot, I jumped at the opportunity. My husband and I love the vintage style and simplicity of the ’40s and thought it would be a wonderful fit for the outdoor shoot. I took inspiration from movies like The Notebook and put together a look for us all with simple things we already had.

"When I’m excited about a project I do it 100 per cent so I even learned how to pin curl my hair and do a period updo! I loved getting all dressed up, having beautiful hair, and bright red lipstick! It actually makes you feel different and approach the whole experience from a very different perspective. My husband and boys simply enjoyed running around in the fields, getting muddy and taking wagon rides!"

This year they are spending their first Valentine’s Day in their new home, Amanda notes. "It will be quiet and include a nature walk, baking cookies, and lots of hugs and kisses. And if my husband and I are lucky it will also include a quiet snuggle on the couch watching TV with a glass of wine after the boys are in bed! I can’t think of a better way to spend Valentine’s Day!”
