Home support workers in Nova Scotia's Guysborough County vote for strike action

PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. - Home support workers in Nova Scotia's Guysborough County have voted in favour of strike action.

Officials with the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union say 100 per cent of those who cast ballots voted in favour of strike action.

The workers in Guysborough County were the last of 14 home support locals in the province to complete strike votes.

Union president Joan Jessome has said the key issue is wage parity with employees who do the same work in hospitals.

Conciliation talks for the Guysborough County workers begin Wednesday.
