The Ontario Provincial Police say that an officer tried to pull over a silver Nissan on the southbound Highway 410 on Tuesday afternoon, after learning that the car had stolen plates.
When the officer tried to pull the car over, the Nissan driver didn’t stop. That led to a pursuit in which another police cruiser was brought in.
An OPP officer got his cruiser in front of the Nissan, at which point police allege the driver slowed down and then accelerated into the back of the police vehicle.
Police say the Nissan driver then drove along the highway shoulder and struck the cruiser for a second time.
The Nissan then "spun out" on the ramp leading to the eastbound lanes of Highway 401, police say.
The driver was arrested after exiting his vehicle.
The OPP say that the driver and the two police officers involved in the incident were all taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Noel McLean, 35, of Toronto, now faces 10 charges, including flight from police, dangerous driving, stunt driving, resisting arrest, driving under suspension and assaulting a peace officer.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at 905-278-6131.
