Explosion in Surrey, B.C., sends one to hospital

One person has been rushed to hospital with severe burns following an explosion in Surrey, B.C., on Monday.

The BC Ambulance Service says a man was taken to the burn unit at Vancouver General Hospital with serious to critical injuries.

One of the man's neighbours, who lives near the 9600 block Townline Diversion, told CBC News he heard an explosion and then found the man badly burned all over his upper body.

Surrey fire crews are on scene fighting a large fire at the home. 

It is not yet clear what caused the explosion.
