For the second year in a row, Calgary is holding a second place finish in overall prosperity, sitting only behind Paris, according to the Toronto Board of Trade's annual Scorecard on Prosperity.
The scorecard examines the labour attractiveness and economies of 24 global metropolitan areas, including Hong Kong, London and New York.
Calgary scored third in the world in 2011, slipped to fourth place in 2012, but was able to climb past London and into second spot in 2013 and hold on to that ranking in the 2014 report.
Calgary also rounds out the top five metropolitan regions in the "Economy" category, falling behind San Francisco, Boston, Seattle, and Dallas.

Scoreboard On Prosperity
"Strong oil and gas prices and continued energy-related investment has placed Calgary as a top-performing economy," the report states.
Calgary grabs top spots in "Low Commute Times" and "Housing Affordability," while ranking second in "High Population Growth" and third in "Young Labour Force."
"Calgary has been a consistent and solid economic performer, ranking among the top three on five indicators, and out-performing all other Canadian metros," the report says.
Calgary, however, ranks low in the categories of "International Visitors" (#22), "Non-Auto Travel To Work" (#19), "Cultural Occupations" (#22), and "Comfortable Climate Index" (#17.)
Scorecard data is used to rank Toronto against major cities, with emphasis on employment, diversity, health and safety, and education.
Calgary outperformed other Canadian cities, as well. In the overall rankings, Toronto placed third; Vancouver 11th; Montreal 12th; and Halifax 16th.
