COLD LAKE, Alta. - A 50-year-old man has turned himself into police more than two years after a fatal hit and run in northern Alberta.

Gary Lee Curtis Lachance was 27 when he was hit by a vehicle in the parking lot of Casino Dene near Cold Lake in December 2011.

Lachance, who was from Frog Lake, Alta., was airlifted to an Edmonton hospital where he died of head injuries.

A police investigation did not lead to any suspects.

RCMP say Wayne Kytwayhat turned himself in at the detachment in Leduc, just south of Edmonton, on Saturday.

He has been charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident and is to appear in court in St. Paul on Thursday.
