Winter isn't just coming to Ontario — it's slamming the province with so much force you expect it to bring the White Walkers along in its wake.
A snow squall blew in from Lake Huron and Georgian Bay and wreaked havoc in the province's southern areas on Thursday, causing whiteout conditions on the roads and a massive pileup of almost 60 vehicles on Highway 400 near Barrie.
Another pileup of 29 vehicles happened on Highway 7A in Port Perry, about an hour's drive northwest of Toronto, CTV News reported.
Numerous squalls are expected throughout the province as an Arctic front brings in heavy snow flurries, according to Environment Canada. Affected areas will see two to four centimetres of snow and drivers should be prepared for low visibility on the roads.

Environment Canada has issued snow squall warnings for areas including Brockville, Kingston and the Grey-Bruce region. Snow squall watches are in effect for Barrie, London, and the Parry Sound-Muskoka and Smiths Falls regions.
There is also a wind chill warning for the City of Toronto and temperatures could go as low as -30 or -35 C across most of southern Ontario.
