Crystal Mountain, B.C. Chairlift Fall, 4 Injured, 2 Critical

Two people were critically injured and two others sustained minor injuries when a chairlift at the Crystal Mountain ski resort near Kelowna "broke" and fell about six metres according to the B.C. Ambulance Service.

B.C. Ambulance spokesperson Ben Mittelsteadt says all four injured have been transported to Kelowna General Hospital.

The accident happened around 11 a.m. PT Saturday, said Mittelsteadt.

He says ski resort staff  told ambulance the incident involved a chair lift that became detached and fell about six metres. 

Middelsteadt says one critically injured person was taken to hospital by helicopter and the other critically injured person was transported in an advanced life support ground ambulance.
