It happened around 6:30 p.m. CST Friday in the parking lot of the Frontier Mall, the RCMP said.
Police got a call reporting an intoxicated woman causing a disturbance.
It's alleged the woman got into a running vehicle with several children in it and was attempting to drive away from the scene.
However, one of the children convinced the woman to stop the vehicle and turn over the keys, police said.
The North Battleford woman, 42, has been charged with impaired driving, theft of a vehicle, refusing to provide a breath sample and causing a disturbance.
She's also facing an allegation of failing to comply with a conditional sentence order pertaining to a previous conviction.
She's been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in provincial court Monday morning.
