Sonja Gaudet has been named Canada's flag-bearer for the Sochi Paralympic Games, the Canadian Paralympic Committee announced Wednesday.

Gaudet is Canada's most decorated wheelchair curler, aiming for her third straight Paralympic gold medal.

Last year, the 47-year-old from Vernon, B.C., was the first ever wheelchair athlete inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame.

Gaudet, who plays in the lead position, has led her team to three world titles in 2009, 2011 and 2013.

The opening ceremony takes place Friday.
