A collision and fire involving two tractor-trailers is causing major traffic problems on Highway 401 just west of Highway 427.

The crash happened just after midnight Thursday in the westbound express lanes of Highway 401 near Renforth Drive.

Two trucks collided, causing an electrical fire in one truck's electrical system. The fire eventually ignited the truck's load of boxes. Toronto Fire Services eventually extinguished the blaze, but the fire left a mess that police say likely won't be cleaned up until after 8 a.m. at the earliest.

As of 6 a.m., only the left westbound express lane was open. The cleanup is causing delays through the area for drivers travelling in both directions.
