The people of Victoria sure love their sex toys.
People in B.C.'s capital city buy the most sex toys per capita than other Canadian cities, according to a study released by PinkCherry Adult Toys last month.
Victoria has one of the most elderly populations in Canada, which some say could be a factor in its high ranking.
“We had a couple in the other day, he was 98 and she was 96, and he wanted to buy a toy for her because he was starting to slow down,” Amanda Stacey, owner of local sex shop Love Den, told Metro News.
Another possible factor for the city's good vibrations is the weather.
“Our high spot for selling toy stuff is the winter compared to summer,” Victoria sex shop owner Christine Page told Vice. “In the summer people are out hiking and doing stuff, but this time of year it’s quite rainy and gloomy, the weather.”
The study also noted the country's top choices for sex toys, which include lubricant, rabbit vibrators, and bullet vibrators, as well as the Magic Wand, which was originally marketed as a body massager.
The study was done Jan. 1, 2013 to Dec. 31, 2013 and looked at Canadians over 18 who purchased sex toys, lingerie, and adult novelties from PinkCherry.
Out of the 25-city list, seven are in British Columbia.
