EDMONTON - An agency that investigates serious incidents involving police in Alberta has recommended that an RCMP officer face charges in a crash.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team investigated a crash on July 7, 2013 involving an unmarked police vehicle and a private vehicle in Edson.

Two people in the private care were injured.

ASIRT's executive director Clifton Purvis determined that RCMP Const. Dave McKenna should be charged with two provincial driving offences.

McKenna was charged in January with careless driving and driving with inappropriate speed and is set to appear in court in Edson on April 9.

The driver of the private vehicle is charged with making an improper left turn.
