NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C. - Mounties say thieves smashed their way into a North Vancouver mall with a stolen Jeep they used to ram through the security gates of a jewelry store.

Cpl. Richard De Jong says the culprits accessed the mall with the Jeep, then drove down the concourse to break into the jewelry store late Thursday night.

RCMP say once the suspects made it into the store, they shattered several display cases and took an undetermined amount of stock.

The vehicle was found abandoned a short distance from the mall.

A police tracking dog was brought in but couldn't find a trail.

Police are reviewing surveillance video and forensic experts are examining the site for evidence that could lead to arrests.
