The disappearance of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 has prompted many to ask how an airliner can simply vanish in an age of real-time tracking using GPS and other technologies.

CBC.ca writer Kazi Stastna tackles many of the questions about what may have happened to the flight in this story.

CBC Toronto will also delve into the questions surrounding the disappearance of Flight MH370 on Friday night's supper hour newscast, which will be followed by a web chat during which viewers can submit their questions to retired pilot and aviation expert Jock Williams.

Williams is a pilot with more than 50 years of flying experience. He is a retired fighter pilot for the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a flight safety inspector for Transport Canada.

Williams will appear live on CBC Toronto with hosts Mike Wise and Anne-Marie Mediwake starting just after 5 p.m. ET. Immediately after his appearance on the show, Williams will answer questions in our web chat.
