Clearwater RCMP say the men were buried in a slide that occurred in the back of Red Sands Mountain near Blue River, B.C., located about halfway between Kamloops and Jasper, Alta.
Police say a group of snowmobilers were in the area and rushed to dig out the two men.
One man was immediately rescued, but the second died of his injuries.
The BC Coroners is now investigating the death.

The man was in a group of four skiing in the Helen Shoulder glades when they triggered the slide, burying the man. Using beacons and probes, his companions had him out in 15 minutes and performed CPR until EMS arrived,
An alpine helicopter took him to Lake Louise and then a STARS helicopter transported him to Calgary.
