SXSW, the 10-day annual music, film and tech festival that has become the crossroads of modern culture, has finally closed up shop for another year.

It was once again bigger than its ever been, with hundreds of thousands crowding the Texan capital's streets along with the 60,000 official attendees, and attracted almost every major cultural figure of our time, ranging from Edward Snowden, Bill Cosby and Shaq to Bieber, Gaga and Willie Nelson to Lena Dunham, Seth Rogan and the cast of Veronica Mars.

There were also walking emojis, a gorilla drinking a 40, Common rapping about 'Game of Thrones,' a Day of the Dead parade, a bitcoin ATM, virtual reality that actually worked, a petting zoo party, an AR-15-filled gun rights march, Kevin Bacon celebrating six degrees of.., George Takei celebrating his takeover of the Internet, the triumphant return of Grumpy Cat, Coldplay debuting new music, Gorrillaz reuniting, Snoop helming an AirBnB "Wake'n'Bake" party and Willie Nelson singing his "new gospel" classic, "Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die."

Even the Canadian passport-reading beer fridge made an appearance.

Here are some photos of the madness that went down during the 28th annual South by Southwest festival.
