It may technically be the first day of spring, but Mother Nature seems to have different designs for Alberta.
People across the province woke to blowing snow and below-zero temperatures Thursday morning as a storm system made its way across the province.
The snow made for a slippery commute in Calgary and Edmonton, as well as highways across the province.
RCMP issued a travel advisory for Highway 2 between Edmonton and Calgary late Thursday morning after multiple collisions were reported and blowing snow resulted in limited visibility.
Meanwhile, people in Calgary and Edmonton shared their photos, incredulous that this is the best spring has to offer so far.

But why are we surprised? As Canadians, shouldn't we be used to this already?
The good news, however, is that the brutal, winter-like conditions aren't expected to last too long. In most parts of the province temperatures are expected to rise steadily over the weekend before clmbing back into the plus-side by mid-week.
