Prolific property offender with more than 80 convictions gets prison time

WEST VANCOUVER, B.C. - A chronic property offender in British Columbia who has more than 80 criminal convictions is going to prison.

On Sunday, West Vancouver police arrested 40-year-old Dean McArthur Durnie whose criminal record dates back to 1995.

Police say they saw Durnie in West Vancouver and tried to tried to stop him, but he took off.

When they caught up with the man, police say they found some stolen items, drugs and paraphernalia, and were able to link him to a local break and enter.

Durnie, who appeared in provincial court on Thursday, has pleaded guilty to break and enter, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.

He has been sentenced to three years in prison.
