Instead of blooming flowers and green grass, spring greeted Canadians with lots of snow and freezing rain.

With that reality outside our doorsteps, we've been forced to daydream of frolicking in lush green meadows wearing cute floral dresses and other spring 2014 fashion trends.

Lucky for celebrities in L.A. (where Mother Nature is sane), they’ve already been rocking spring florals for ages, and we're jealous!

After your resentment has subsided, let's inspire you with celebrity-endorsed floral patterns. Have a little faith and perhaps we’ll be wearing blossoms sooner than you can say “snowmaggedon”.

Celebrities In Florals

1. Floral Floor Length Skirts

A floor length skirt makes a statement on its own but add a bold floral pattern and you’re turning heads. Actress Bella Thorne wore an ultra feminine Alice + Olivia floral skirt paired with a cable knit crop top for a wonderfully eclectic look and “Girls” star Zosia Mamet sported the same floral print but with a twist: a super wide leg pant under a blue trench coat with clashing snakeskin purse which made for a very different, yet still chic, interpretation.

2. Floral Crop Top

The floral crop top is ingrained in the memory of children who grew up in the '90s. Why? Well obviously it's because “Saved by the Bell” babe Kelly Kapowski famously wore a floral crop, high-waisted jeans combo that’s more relevant than ever today. Here’s the evidence: today’s beautiful brunettes, Selena Gomez and Katy Perry both wore a stunning D&G floral crop tops à la Kelly K.

3. Floral Maxi Dress

There’s nothing more comfortable than traipsing around town in a maxi dress, bathed in the warmth of spring. Actress Jessica Alba looked ready for Easter in a '90s floral print maxi paired with a denim vest for a little edge.

4. Floral Blazer

Before you say a floral blazer might be a tad too loud for your taste, give us a chance to prove you wrong. Exhibit one: tennis star Maria Sharapova, who looked perfectly low key in a floral blazer toned down by a solid orange blouse and black shorts. If you’re a bit more adventurous, Katy Perry did floral on floral justice, pairing a bright floral jacket with a flower crown, earrings and floral grey crop top with matching skirt.

5. Floral Pants

The floral pants trend has been kicking around for a few seasons but luckily, it has maintained its freshness. Celebrities like Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, Drew Barrymore and Julianne Hough know how to do florals right. Most have paired their floral pants with solid tops but socialite Hannah Bronfman dared to wear a floral denim top with floral pants and gasp, white pumps, which looked ridiculously gorgeous.

6. Floral Jumper

A floral jumper could potentially make you look like a six-year-old so the key is to create a polished look with grown-up elements, whether it’s in the accessories or hair and makeup. Actress Elle Fanning did just that at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, pairing her blush coloured floral jumper with wedges and cinching in her waist with a leather belt. Hawt.

7. Floral Crowns

There’s a time and place for floral crowns and it usually involves Coachella or a wedding where you’re the bride. We can’t say we hate the trend though. A smaller floral crown could look really feminine, helping to accent a more subdued outfit. To wit: Keira Knightley, who looked lovely when she wore a red floral headband that blended nicely with her brunette locks. We also loved Kirsten Dunst's and Anne Hathaway's discreet floral crowns, which didn't scream for attention.

8. Floral Cocktail Dress

Sometimes you need to give your LBD a rest and break out a floral dress for an evening out. Take model Molly Simms, who looked perfect in a fitted floral shift dress from Zara with classic black pumps. Meanwhile, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour seems to live in floral dresses: the Kim Kardashian defender has been spotted in several stylish floral frocks, so how could we argue with the queen of fashion? Right, we can’t.

9. Floral Midi Skirts

We have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot of floral midi skirts this Spring/Summer. Taylor Swift did a great job channeling a retro vibe with a pink and white floral skirt while Ryan Gosling's GF Eva Mendes and burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese did the same with their take on the floral midi.

10. Floral Coats

As Canadians, we tend to jump the gun when temperatures soar to a whopping 10 degrees Celsius. (We can't help it.)

Given that we live in a tundra for the better part of the year, we get it; just don’t forget your floral coats. Singer Kylie Minogue bundled up in a black floral trench while mini Carrie Bradshaw, Anna Sophia Robb, wore a floral pea coat that contrasted nicely with her curly blond mop.
