John Leonard MacKean, of Lower Sackville, was also found guilty last week of communicating for the purpose of obtaining sexual services from a person under 18. He will be sentenced on June 24.
The charges relate to an incident in a remote cabin in the woods of Lunenburg County in September 2010, where a teenage boy was kept chained up for 10 days.
A key piece of evidence at MacKean's trial in Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Bridgewater was a video recording made in November 2010. In it, RCMP Cpl. Luc Cote spent four hours interviewing MacKean about his involvement in the sexual assault.
After initially saying he wouldn't talk on the advice of his lawyer, MacKean answered most of Cote's questions.
