David Soknacki to discuss mayoral race on Metro Morning

Metro Morning's week-long interview series featuring Toronto mayoral candidates continues today with former councillor David Soknacki in studio to speak with host Matt Galloway at 7:40 a.m. ET.

Yesterday Olivia Chow spoke on Metro Morning about her recently launched campaign. She said Toronto "needs a new mayor" and said council's move to extend the subway into Scarborough — instead of using light rail along the route — was the "wrong decision."

Soknacki is a former Scarborough councillor who spent the last seven years in the private sector running Ecom Canada, his food flavourings company. He also served as budget chief during former mayor David Miller's first term in office.

Listeners in the Toronto area can hear the interview on 99.1 FM at 7:40 a.m. You can also watch the interview in live-streamed video on CBC.ca/Toronto. Just click on the image that will appear at the top of this story to watch live.

We will also post a full video version of Galloway's interview with Soknacki in this space later on Tuesday morning.

The series of interviews will continue this week on Metro Morning. The schedule is as follows:

- Tuesday David Soknacki.

- Wednesday: John Tory.

- Thursday: Karen Stintz.

- Friday: Rob Ford.
