Junos 2014: Performers, Presenters, Air Time And Everything Else About The Juno Awards

The city declared earlier this year to be colder than an uninhabitable planet is getting ready to shed some layers for Canada’s biggest music party, the 2014 Juno Awards in Winnipeg.

With Arcade Fire, Tegan and Sara, Serena Ryder, Celine Dion, Drake, and legendary Winnipeg rock act Bachman-Turner Overdrive up for awards, this year's installment is on track to be a star-studded CanCon affair.

But before we get to the big day, there's probably some stuff we should sort out first. For starters, Robin Thicke – why? (We'll get to that.)

Below is everything you need to know about the 2014 Juno Awards.

What time's the show?

This year's Junos will be broadcast on CTV on March 30th at 8 p.m. CT / 9 p.m. ET (check local listings to confirm broadcast times and stations).

Winnipeg, eh?

Yep. The two-hour awards show returns to the heart of the continent, broadcasting live from the MTS Centre. Internationally known as the birthplace of past and present Juno winners and nominees The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Crash Test Dummies, The Watchmen, Chantal Kreviazuk, the Weakerthans, current contenders Royal Canoe and KEN mode, and a whole bunch of others, the city last hosted the Junos back in 2005.

Who's hosting?

The musical trifecta of rapper Classified, country act Johnny Reid and pop songstress Serena Ryder.

Who's performing?

Arcade Fire will join the broadcast via pre-taped segment, and Tegan and Sara will perform their mega hit "Closer" backed by a choir full of fans. Colorado rockers OneRepublic will make their Junos premiere performing their latest chart-topping single, "Counting Stars," and the broadcast will see the return of Sarah McLachlan.

Plus, an all-star band that includes The Sheepdogs, Matt Mays, Tim Hicks, and Travis Good of The Sadies will close the show with a musical tribute to Bachman-Turner Overdrive, who will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame during the live broadcast. Feted in front of a hometown crowd, it'll be a bittersweet tribute for the Winnipeg rock legends.

Also performing are Classified, Serena Ryder, Robin Thicke, Walk Off The Earth, and country acts Brett Kissel, Dean Brody, and Gord Bamford.

Sarah McLachlan's performing?!

Amazing, right? She'll be returning to the Junos stage to make a debut performance of "Beautiful Girl" from "Shine On," her forthcoming record and first in four years.

Who's presenting awards?

A diverse group that includes A Tribe Called Red, July Talk, The Sadies, Shad, Jim Cuddy, Trevor Guthrie and Sarah McLachlan, along with music power couple Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida, 2014 Olympic Gold Medal curler and Winnipeg native Jennifer Jones, and everybody’s favourite "Space Oddity"-singing astronaut, Commander Chris Hadfield.

Which awards are actually televised?

A whooping six out of 41 awards will be televised in major categories that include Juno Fan Choice Award, Album of the Year, Single of the Year, and Group of the Year. Most of the awards will be given out at an industry-only gala dinner the night before on March 29. The good news is you can live stream the gala dinner for the first time ever, and, of course, we’ll be there covering all of the night's happenings (and drunken speeches) to help keep you in the loop.

Who are the big nominees?

Arcade Fire and their disco hybrid "Reflektor" – the record that David Bowie was so into he actually 'threatened to steal it' – lead the nominee list with six nods, including Album of the Year. The band will also go up against Celine Dion, Drake, Michael Bublé and Serena Ryder in the same category.

Serena Ryder, who won a Juno Award for Adult Alternative Album of the Year in 2013, returns with five nods, including a re-entry with "What I Wouldn't Do" for Single of the Year ("Stompa" lost out to Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" the previous year), where she’ll battle it out with Michael Bublé, also a five-time nominee, for single "It's A Beautiful Day."

Celine Dion, Drake and Tegan and Sara, the self-proclaimed "Susan Lucci of the Junos," are all tied with four nominations. The Calgary twins had a whirlwind year with the release of their synth-soaked magnum opus, "Heartthrob," and will go head to head with Hedley and Walk off the Earth for Pop Album of the Year and Group of the Year.

Hedley, Walk of the Earth, and Robin Thicke all hold three nominations.

Wait, what? Isn't Robin Thicke American?

Yes. Well, half-American. He was born and raised in Los Angeles. But his dad, Alan Thicke (aka Jason Seaver from "Growing Pains"), was born in Canada, which makes him a dual citizen and therefore eligible for a Juno. Blurred lines, indeed. All we can say is…Sarah McLachlan!

Complete list of nominees after the slideshow.

Carly Rae Jepsen wins all the awards
