Tim Hortons' Bring It Back Promo Feeds Coffee-Shop Nostalgia

Timmies Gets All Nostalgic
CP

Do you miss Tim Hortons' eclair?

Remember when the chain served up slices of pie?

Are you still bemoaning the recent demise of the dutchie Timbit?

Now you have the chance to bring back one of those lost treasures. The Canadian coffee chain is giving its customers the opportunity to vote for the treat they want to make a comeback.

Tims is launching a “Bring it Back” promotion in honour of its 50th anniversary that will see one victorious menu item return to stores later this year.

“For 50 years Tim Hortons has been updating its menu to suit the evolving tastes and preferences of our guests, and with that, some menu items have come and gone, yet we continue to receive requests to bring back beloved menu items,” said Glenn Hollis, vice-president of marketing at Tim Hortons.

“Bring It Back is our way of saying thank you to our loyal guests for the past five decades. We hope it sparks fond memories for Canadians and Tim Hortons employees from coast to coast.”

The first contender to enter the doughnut ring? A 1960s favourite: The chocolatey, doughy, creamy eclair.

Over the next five weeks Tims will announce five more lost menu items from the past half century. Once all competitors are revealed, Canadians can go to TimsBringitBack.ca or Tim Hortons’ Facebook page to vote on their choice from May 1 to May 14. The winning item will be announced May 15, ahead of Tims’ 50th birthday on May 17.

The timing on when we’ll see the winning treat in stores is still to be determined, but sadly it will only be for a limited time.

Which food of the past would you most like to make a comeback? Tell us in the comments below.
