Hopeful Signal Hill candidate blasts Conservative Party of Canada over disqualification

Instead of battling the likes of Ron Liepert and Rob Anders for the MP seat of Calgary-Signal Hill, a would-be candidate will have to just watch.
Dan Morrison had been planning for months to run and thought he had his application in order. However, after submitting it on time, the Conservative Party of Canada said there was a problem with one of his signatures.
When he corrected the problem, the Party said since he faxed and didn’t email, his application was incomplete and he was disqualified.
“To kick me out because I sent you a fax instead of an email and allow Mr. Anders behaviour to still be in the race, it does show you the level of party influence and the incorrect procedures,” he said.
Morrison said this could stem from when he was a riding president a few years ago and fought for open nominations, but ended up butting heads with the national council and his board resigned.
“This might be payback for the bad press that was caused nation-wide for that,” he said. “The local board here once again came to my aid and fought national council and again lost and that just shows you the government overreach of unelected people.”
Morrison added considering how many people he and Liepert have signed up, he doesn’t think Anders will win.
Calls to the Conservative Party of Canada have not been returned.
