A high-speed police chase ended late Tuesday when a car rolled over in a downtown parking lot.

The chase began at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday. The driver was pursued by police before losing control, striking a parked car and rolling the car he was driving in a parking lot at the corner of McCaul Street and Dundas Street West.

The driver managed to get out of the car and tried to run away before collapsing nearby.

The province's Special Investigations Unit is investigating.

The man was taken to hospital. There is no word yet on charges.

McCaul north of College Street is expected to remain closed for the morning commute while police investigate.
