STEPHENVILLE, N.L. - The government of Newfoundland and Labrador says it will issue a request for proposals to build a new provincial courthouse in Stephenville.

The current provincial courthouse in Stephenville is housed on the second floor of a building that was originally used as a military barracks.

It has been there since 1970.

Premier Tom Marshall says a new courthouse will provide better space for staff and improve security.
