Campbell has been named as the founding principal of the Peter Lougheed Leadership College.
The university says the program will allow students and leaders from around the world to hone their skills.
The college is part of the $70 million Peter Lougheed Leadership Initiative, which also includes a program at The Banff Centre.
Campbell served as Canada's 19th prime minister in 1993.
She says being involved with a school named after former Alberta premier Peter Lougheed is a great honour.
"Peter Lougheed himself once said, 'Strive for the extraordinary,' and that is exactly our aim — to deliver an extraordinary learning experience that inspires a new generation of students and leaders," Campbell said Tuesday in a release.
