UPDATE - April 18, 2014: Donations can now be made to any credit union in B.C., said a news release from Adrian Dix's office.
A toddler, whose uncle has been charged with injuring her and with killing her grandmother, is getting support from Vancouver Kingsway MLA Adrian Dix.
"After a fatal act of domestic violence left this little girl, who lives in the heart of my riding at Joyce and Kingsway, hurt and alone, both constituents and people across this city have expressed a shared concern for her future wellbeing," Dix said in a press release Tuesday.
The outgoing B.C. NDP leader has set up the "Kingsway Child's Fund" with an initial $1,000 donation, and is encouraging others to contribute at Community Savings Credit Union locations.
"(The girl) is expected to survive, but the extent of her potentially life-altering injuries are not really known at this time," said Vancouver police Const. Brian Montague in a news release.
The 19-month-old girl was found in the bloody suite of a Kingsway apartment building on Monday, along with her slain grandmother, Yin Nor Hsao, 63, who babysat her.
Police responding to a 911 call of a crying child and a building hallway stained with blood were confronted by a man armed with a knife. Officers were forced to draw their firearms, and shoot the suspect, said police.
Ka Chi David Siu, 33, has been charged with second-degree murder in his mother's death, as well as attempted murder of the girl, who is his niece.
Siu is in hospital in stable condition under police guard until he is well enough to be moved to jail
Donations to the girl's trust fund can be made at the following Community Savings Credit Union branches:

- Port Coquitlam: #100 – 1125 Nicola Ave.
- Burnaby: 4590 Hastings St.
- Victoria: #103 – 2750 Quadra St.
Cheque donations can be made out to "Kingsway Child's Fund" and mailed to the Vancouver branch. Information for how people in other parts of the province can donate will be released in the coming days.
