Heroes Rescue Nanaimo Baby From Under Car

Heroes Lift Car To Rescue B.C. Baby

Several people are being hailed as heroes for lifting up a car and pulling an infant to safety after he was struck by the vehicle in Nanaimo, B.C.

The six-month-old baby, who was in a stroller, and his mom were crossing at a marked intersection on Tuesday when a Jetta ran a red light and hit them, said the RCMP.

The baby and his car seat were thrown from the stroller onto the road and came to rest under the car. At least five people ran to the scene, picked up the car, and dragged the baby and seat out from underneath it, said RCMP Const. Gary O'Brien.

"They're heroes," O'Brien told The Huffington Post B.C.

Miraculously, the baby appeared to only have some minor bumps and bruises. He was kept overnight in hospital for observation, while his 20-year-old mom was treated for an abrasion to her lower leg.

The 21-year-old male driver was issued a ticket for driving without due attention, which carries a $368 fine.
