No one was hurt in the incident, but unstable soil continues to be a concern.
Two homes were damaged Saturday afternoon by the initial slide and another two homes were evacuated Monday as a precaution after a geological inspection of soil in the area along the L'Achigan River.
The Red Cross has moved 6 people to temporary accommodations at a local hotel. It’s not known how long they will have to wait before they can return to their homes.
“There were a few small slides a number of years ago, but nothing since then,” the mayor of Sainte-Sophie, Louise Gallant, told Radio-Canada.
Last week saw two other landslides in the Laurentians area, one in Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard and another at Lac-des-Seize-Îles. The latter washed two cottages and four boathouses into the lake.Suggest a correction
