Canadian Eugenie Bouchard advanced to the quarter-finals of the Portugal Open with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory over Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan on Wednesday.

Montreal’s rising star will now play French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia, who beat Spaniard Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 in her second-round matchup in Oeiras.

Bouchard, 20, who took the tennis world by storm after making it to the semifinals of the Australian Open in January, is the tournament’s No. 2 seed.
