Courtney Love has only recently realized she should behave like a role model.

The Hole rocker has built a career on being outspoken and living on the edge. She has battled drug addiction and entered into feuds with other stars, among them Smashing Pumpkins star Billy Corgan. Courtney will turn 50 in July and it seems with the landmark age fast approaching, she has mellowed.

"I never used to think about being a role model for girls, but I do now. I have a 21-year-old daughter and I realise how our actions can create copycat desires," she told Kerrang! magazine. "A lot of the time when I was younger I had this real attitude of, 'F**k you, you suck!' to everything, but these days I don't really need all the bulls**t of that stuff. I'm 49. Maybe I should have learnt this stuff about 20 years ago, but at least I am now!"

Courtney is the frontwoman of Hole, and is back with a new double A side solo single called "You Know My Name / Wedding Day." The band have also been working on material, although they aren't putting too much pressure on themselves. The star wants to see how things go, especially as she's aware so many other older fans have been reforming lately.

"I don't worry about it being seen as just another reunion. I'm not even going to do it unless we come up with some killer new tracks. I'm not going to do the oldies circuit - I'd honestly rather die or retire," she said. "I don't need the money, so I can make this what I really want it to be. It's important that we have new songs to play, it's important to have a new single. I definitely don't want to be closing the night with 'Celebrity Skin' the whole time."
