The days of not knowing when to buy a round of drinks or when to cheers with your buds are over. Your winter hibernation is done, patio season (a.k.a. drinking season) is upon us, and it's the perfect time brush up on your bar etiquette skills.
Canadian beer company Rickard's has put together an online series of videos on bar rules on everything from what to order when your boss is at the bar to what to do if someone "drops" in for one drink.
And while your drinking habits have probably changed (drastically) since your early 20s, there's almost a sense of maturity that comes with ordering from the bar as a grown up, says bartender Jim Meehan. Meehan says along with the basics of asking the bartender for help and not judging what others order, buying a glass of booze shouldn't be a complicated process.
So to help you out the next time you hit the bar, Rickard's has pulled together 12 bar etiquette scenarios to be aware of this summer. Although these are not definitive rules for ordering and drinking pints with your pals, it gives a good sense of how to avoid those awkward back-and-forth conversations that happen when it's time to pick up the tab.
