Performance For Prince Charles Goes Horribly Wrong In P.E.I. (VIDEO)

Performance For Prince Charles Goes Horribly Wrong In P.E.I.

His Royal Highness was not amused.

Prince Charles and Camilla were treated to actor Wade Lynch's comic impersonation of Queen Elizabeth II at an event in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Monday.

It went over about as well as you would expect a drag impersonation of the Queen to go when the audience is her notoriously staid son.

"There are two members of our audience who call me by quite another name, and that is, of course, Mommy. Hello, kids! Surprise!" Lynch joked.

Video of the performance posted by The Guardian newspaper shows Charles and Camilla watching without laughing. At one point it even looks like Camilla may be rolling her eyes.

The act was described as tasteless, insulting and shameful, according to the newspaper, and even Lynch himself expressed reservations about doing it earlier this month.

"Even though the humour is gentle when I appear as the Queen, some people believe you are not supposed to mock the royals," he said.

So why did this happen?
