Pointe-aux-Trembles shooting possible case of mistaken identity

Montreal police are investigating if the shooting of a 29-year-old woman in her Pointe-aux-Trembles apartment Monday might be a case of mistaken identity.

Police spokesman Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant says officers received reports of gunshots on Rue de Versailles at around 10:35 p.m.

Police found a woman inside the apartment with a gunshot wound to her leg.

She was taken to hospital. Her injuries are not life threatening.

Brabant said police are looking into the possibility that the victim was mistaken for somebody else.

"We're still trying to know exactly what happened.  That's why the victim's going to be met to know if there's anything or any threat that was done to her in the past," Brabant said.

Police investigators have no suspects and are hoping to speak with the victim this morning.
