Travelling to the Alberta oilsands by bus just got a lot more comfortable.

A passenger bus line from Eastern Canada will make its debut Thursday, shuttling oilsands employees between Edmonton and Fort McMurray in a luxury coach.

Maritime Bus Alberta offers free wi-fi, televisions with a selection of movies, panoramic windows and rows of bunk beds, reports Metro Edmonton.

“We decided to come here to launch a service between Fort McMurray and Edmonton. We felt there was a niche market, so that’s why we’re here,” company president Jean Dupont told Metro, adding the company operates three similar buses in Quebec.

Passengers can choose to travel in a leather chair, group tables that seat four, or take advantage of a private bunk, according to Fort McMurray Today.

An attendant will also be on board to serve snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.

After picking up passengers from local hotels, the coach will leave Edmonton at 9 a.m. and arrive in Fort McMurray around 5 p.m., reports the Edmonton Journal.

The service will run six days a week and costs $139 for a one-way ticket.

“We really feel that people deserve that. People that are working hard in life and they deserve a little bit of luxury," Dupont told the Journal.

Randy White, an oilsands worker, announced his plan to launch a similar service earlier this year.

White said he planned to introduce the Oil Sands Express as early as May 1, with beds, televisions, internet, microwaves and even beer to those willing to pay the price.

So far, White has not launched his service.
