In this week's news that makes us go UGH: actress Melissa McCarthy revealed in the new issue of Redbook that she had trouble getting designers to make Oscar dresses for her.

Despite being an in-demand actress, known for her roles in "Gilmore Girls," "The Heat" and "Mike and Molly" (and being beautiful to boot), the 43-year-old said she had to hustle to find something to wear at the 2012 Academy Awards.

"Two Oscars ago, I couldn't find anybody to do a dress for me," Melissa said. "I asked five or six designers—very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people—and they all said no."

This news surprised us, since, at the time, McCarthy was up for Best Supporting Actress for "Bridesmaids" and was on red carpets everywhere. So, you would think that designers (we're looking at you Karl Lagerfeld, Nichlas Ghesquiere, Pheobe Philo and Diane Von Furstenberg) would be falling over themselves trying to get a dress on her.

In the end, the actress wore a blush-coloured dress by Marina Rinaldi and she looked gorgeous, naturally, but the experience shook her.

That brush with fashion snobbery contributed to starting her own plus-size clothing line. "When I go shopping, most of the time I’m disappointed," she told Redbook. "I don't understand why if you're a certain size, designers think your taste level goes down and you have less money to spend. The quality and construction is often so bad. Finding a great t-shirt or a great cigarette pant in a good fabric is next to impossible. Plus-size clothes are often really cheap and either look young or incredibly old."

Amen, sister.
